Summer Vacation 2007
July 18, 2007
The Clampetts go to Hilton Head!
The Stanton summer vacation 2007 has begun! We picked up my niece, Katie on Monday night and yesterday she and Dana went to the local day spa for their pre-vacation pedicures. This morning we loaded up the van and hit the road for Kansas City, where we’ve settled in at the Econo Lodge Airport. Tomorrow morning we’ll get on the hotel’s airport shuttle and fly from Kansas City to Chicago and then Chicago to Savannah, Georgia!
The trip down I-70 was pretty uneventful. Gracie just asked “When are going to get there soon?” about 10,000 times, but she finally fell asleep at Topeka, so the last hour wasn’t so mind numbing. As she slept, Dana and I (aka Clark and Ellen Grizwald from National Lampoon’s Vacation movies) sang along to the Moulon Rouge and Chicago soundtracks. I’m sure Jack and Katie were not impressed with the performance.
Send a little prayer up to heaven tomorrow morning about 10:30 a.m. as the Stanton’s board the airplane. Pray that Jack and Grace behave and we aren’t escorted off the plane!! Pray for Dana and I as we take a 3 year old, an almost 7 year old and a 14 year old through O’hare International Airport tomorrow!
We’ll think about you all as we lay on the beach this weekend!

Vacation Recap
After a very long day spent in the Chicago airport (6 unplanned hours), we arrived in Savannah and then Hilton Head, South Carolina for the Hengshan Girls reunion. Three days of sand and sun were spent at the beach and then on Monday, we drove back to Savannah for lunch at Paula Deen’s restaurant (awesome) and then flew back to Kansas City (only one of our bags decided to go to Philly instead of Kansas City).
We saw hermit crabs, jelly fish, pelicans, dolphins and picked up lots of sea shells on this excursion.
What a great time on the east coast!
